Labyrinth
Refreshing a spiritual brand
About the brand
Labyrinth is a progressive christian ministry serving students at The University of Texas at Austin for over a decade. The organization seeks to provide a safe space for students to explore their spirituality, and to support Queer Christians, who may not be welcome in other religious spaces.
The original logo
Time for a refresh.
After a decade, it was time for a fresh coat of paint. The new look is a quirky and expressive design to appeal to a new generation, with spiritual twist.
The Labyrinth
The new labyrinth retains the divine beauty of the original with a cleaner, fresher look. The simplified design provides more spacing between the walls of the labyrinth, improving legibility on small screens, while still feeling at home up on a large sign. The new three pointed design further improves legibility while subtly evoking The Holy Trinity, a core element of the Christian faith.
Color Palette
The new color palette builds upon the original Labyrinth purple and turquoise. The new Purple and Seafoam bring new vibrance to the brand, and are complimented by a new analogous palette. The Navy, Royal Blue, Lilac, and an Off-White Purple Tint play together harmoniously with the iconic Labyrinth Purple.
The Gradient
The Gradient, available in light and dark tonality, maximizes the new color palette to create bold, yet calming stages for messages to flourish. Like the new labyrinth, the gradient’s three pointed design evokes a sense of spirituality and draws connections to The Holy Trinity.
Typography
The new typography marks a divergence from the Grotesks of the original Labyrinth logo. The new Humanist typeset is designed to feel friendly and approachable. The Labyrinth type was shifted away from the previous capitalized look to further create a sense of openness for new students.
The Labryinth type and headings are now in Effra Sans, while body text is in Freight Sans.
